Does nothing. No error returned or anything. Which PBX have you tested this with and what port is needed? SIP?

My mistake. I took added enable display errors php setting to see that my IP was being blocked.

Also removed the @ symbol from the socket open command that was suppressing warnings.

Still not sure if this requires Asterisk Manager usernames and password or extension username and password.

Will continue testing.
